As of 12 noon today, the decaying center of Tropical Depression Bopha was located near the coast of Ilocos Norte...about 139 km west of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte or 146 km northwest of Vigan City, Ilocos Sur...currently moving very slowly northeastward with a forward speed of 4 km/hr.

1-DAY FORECAST OUTLOOK*

Tropical Depression Bopha is expected to turn southward during the next 24 hours. On the forecast track, the remnants of Bopha is expected to be just near the coast of Ilocos Sur on Monday noontime.

Bopha will continue to weaken and dissipate throughout the forecast period due to the surge of cool dry-air feeding into its circulation and increasing strong winds near the troposphere (known as Vertical Wind Shear) affecting the system.

The following is the summary of the 1-day forecast outlook on this system:

MONDAY NOON: Dissipated near the coast of Ilocos Sur...just an area of low pressure...about 108 km west-northwest of Vigan City, Ilocos Sur [12PM DEC 10: 17.8N 119.4E @ 30kph].

*Please be reminded that the Forecast Outlook changes every 6 hours, and the Day 3 Forecast Track have an average error of 250 km...while the wind speed forecast error, averages 35 kph per day. Therefore, a turn to the left or right of its future track and changes in its wind speed must be anticipated from time to time.
